For the first time, the award-winning horror attraction is taking over Avery Hill Mansion in Greenwich, transforming the Grade II listed Victorian building into the unsettling Avery Hill Asylum.
Running from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, November 1, 2026, this limited 18-night event combines immersive theatre, cinematic horror, live performers and large-scale storytelling inside one of London's most atmospheric historic buildings. With more than 70 professional scare actors, an entire Halloween village and two brand-new horror experiences created exclusively for London, this is far more than a traditional haunted house.

What is The Nightmare Realm?
The Nightmare Realm is one of Europe's largest immersive horror attractions.
You'll enter a fully developed horror world where live actors, cinematic environments and evolving storylines surround you from the moment you arrive.
Long before announcing its move to London, The Nightmare Realm had established itself as one of Europe's most respected Halloween attractions. The experience first launched in Ireland and has spent the past 17 years expanding, refining and rebuilding its productions each season.
The London edition combines three major elements:
- First is the transformed Avery Hill Asylum inside the Victorian mansion.
- Second are two completely new cinematic horror experiences developed specifically for London.
- Third is Halloween Town, an immersive outdoor environment where stories unfold around you as performers interact with guests throughout the evening.
Avery Hill Mansion becomes the Avery Hill Asylum
The venue plays a huge role in what makes this year's London edition so exciting.
Avery Hill Mansion was originally built during the 1880s for businessman Colonel John Thomas North, often referred to as the "Nitrate King."
Today, the Grade II listed Victorian mansion remains one of South East London's most distinctive historic buildings.
Its grand staircases, long corridors, ornate rooms and Victorian architecture already suit the mood before any theatrical effects are added.
For The Nightmare Realm, the mansion becomes Avery Hill Asylum, providing the backdrop for the experience's central storyline. The production uses the building's original architectural character to create a convincing environment.
The result is a horror setting that is naturally unsettling rather than artificially created.
Two brand new horror experiences created only for London
Even if you've experienced The Nightmare Realm in Ireland before, the London edition offers something completely new.
The production features two brand-new cinematic horror experiences created exclusively for its UK debut. The creative team has developed entirely new storylines and environments for Avery Hill Mansion.
At the time of writing, the organisers have deliberately kept details about both experiences secret. That mystery is part of the appeal.
The only information confirmed is that both attractions have been designed specifically for the London venue and will form a major part of this year's experience. More details are expected to be revealed closer to opening night through the official Nightmare Realm channels.
Halloween Town expands the experience beyond the mansion
The scares don't stop when you leave the asylum.
Outside the mansion, you'll enter Halloween Town, an immersive village where the story continues across a much larger environment.
You'll find live characters, roaming performers and theatrical scenes unfolding throughout the space. Conversations happen around you, unexpected encounters appear without warning and different parts of the village reveal new elements of the story.
This approach makes Halloween Town more like an immersive theatre production than a traditional scare zone.
Early promotional images also suggest a varied cast of characters, including sinister doctors, chained creatures, carnival-style performers and horror-inspired figures, creating an environment that balances psychological tension with theatrical spectacle.
More than 70 live scare actors bring the story to life
One of the biggest reasons The Nightmare Realm has earned its reputation is the scale of its live performances. More than 70 professional scare actors perform throughout the attraction every night.
The experience is driven by live performers who interact with guests, react to their movements and keep the atmosphere unpredictable. Because actors are spread throughout both Avery Hill Asylum and Halloween Town, you never quite know where the next encounter will come from.
That constant uncertainty is one of the reasons returning visitors often describe every visit as feeling slightly different.
