BiBi Lates: Mayfair's Late-Night Indian Dining Experience
Discover BiBi Lates in Mayfair, where award-winning cocktails meet contemporary Indian dishes after 9pm. Experience Michelin recognised dining in a relaxed late night format.
Getting a table at BiBi has become something of a rite of passage for London's food lovers. Since opening in Mayfair in 2021, chef Chet Sharma's contemporary Indian restaurant has earned widespread acclaim, a place in the Michelin Guide, and recognition from some of the country's most respected restaurant awards.
Now there's a new way to experience it.
BiBi has launched BiBi Lates, a late-night menu available Monday to Thursday after 9pm. Instead of committing to the restaurant's full tasting menu experience, you can drop in for cocktails and order a curated selection of dishes à la carte.
The result is a more relaxed, spontaneous version of BiBi that still delivers the creativity, precision and flavour that made the restaurant famous.
What is BiBi Lates?
BiBi Lates is a dedicated late-evening offering that takes over after the main dinner service.
The kitchen serves a handpicked selection of dishes inspired by BiBi's most popular creations, alongside an expanded cocktail programme. This gives you the chance to sample some of the restaurant's standout food without committing to the full tasting menu experience.
It's designed for people who want to experience BiBi without spending an entire evening working through a multi-course tasting menu.
Whether you're looking for a late dinner, cocktails with exceptional food, or simply a first introduction to one of London's most talked-about restaurants, this is arguably the most accessible way to do it.
Why BiBi matters in London's dining scene
BiBi is the creation of chef-patron Chet Sharma, one of the most interesting figures in British hospitality. Before opening the restaurant, Sharma worked in some of the world's most respected kitchens, including:
- Mugaritz in Spain
- Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons
- The Ledbury
- Moor Hall
- Dabbous
- Locanda Locatelli
Alongside his culinary career, Sharma also completed a PhD in Physics at the University of Oxford, bringing a scientific mindset to ingredient sourcing, flavour development and menu creation.
Since opening, BiBi has earned recognition including:
- Michelin Guide listing
- GQ Restaurant of the Year 2022
- Menu of the Year at the Cateys
- Inclusion in The World's 50 Best Discovery list
- Best Cocktail List at the National Restaurant Awards 2025
- Ranking among the UK's top restaurants
For many diners, it has become one of the benchmark destinations for contemporary Indian cooking in Britain, known for combining regional Indian flavours, meticulous sourcing and fine-dining technique in a way that feels both innovative and deeply personal.
The cocktails are a major reason to visit
While the food receives most of the headlines, BiBi's drinks programme has quietly become one of the strongest in London.
The restaurant won Best Cocktail List of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards 2025, and BiBi Lates places those cocktails front and centre. Several drinks have already become signatures.
- The Curry Leaf Martini takes familiar martini structure and layers it with aromatic Indian flavours.
- The Mysore Negroni offers a richer, more complex interpretation of the classic Italian cocktail.
- The Jaggery Old Fashioned introduces caramel-like depth through the use of jaggery, a traditional unrefined cane sugar widely used across South Asia.
These aren't cocktails designed simply to match the food. They stand comfortably on their own.
What to order from the BiBi Lates food menu
The late-night menu draws from dishes that helped establish BiBi's reputation. Expect bold flavours, technical precision and ingredients sourced with great care.
Among the standout dishes previously featured in the restaurant's curated selections are oysters topped with mango granita, combining sweetness, acidity and brininess in a single bite.
The veal sweetbreads deliver rich flavour and spice, while the Hamachi inspired by nimbu pani pairs raw fish with strawberries and citrus notes inspired by South Asian lemonade.
Beyond the late-night menu, BiBi's signature creations include:
- Lahori Chicken with yoghurt whey and cashew
- Ajwaini Scallops
- Kala Channa
- Oxford Blue Malai Kofta
- Buffalo Milk Panna Cotta
- Seasonal kulfi and shrikhand desserts
Every dish reflects Sharma's philosophy of combining nostalgia, regional Indian flavours and premium British produce.
How the ingredients are sourced
One of the defining characteristics of BiBi is its sourcing.
The restaurant works with carefully selected suppliers across both Britain and India. Certain varieties of rice and spices are imported from specialist farms in India, while much of the fresh produce is sourced domestically.
You'll find hand-dived scallops from Devon, buffalo milk from Lancashire, artisan cheeses from Somerset and dayboat-landed fish from British waters. The approach helps explain why BiBi's food feels distinct. The restaurant combines Indian culinary heritage with some of the best ingredients available in the UK.
Why the restaurant is called Bibi
BiBi is named after Chet Sharma's grandmothers, affectionately known as his "bibis." The two tasting menus served during regular dinner service are named after them as well.
Kamal, priced from £145, is named after one of Sharma's grandmothers and serves as the restaurant's shorter tasting menu.
Ranjana, priced from £195, is named after his other grandmother and offers an extensive tasting menu experience, featuring additional courses and premium ingredients.
Many dishes throughout the menu are rooted in family memories, recipes and stories, giving the food a personal connection and adding another layer of meaning to the experience.
The design makes the experience even better
The dining room balances Mayfair sophistication with subtle references to Indian design. At the centre sits an open kitchen wrapped by a counter dining space, allowing you to watch chefs prepare dishes in real time.
The focal point is the sigree, a traditional Indian grill used throughout the menu.
Music also plays an important role. You'll hear a soundtrack of hip-hop and R&B throughout the restaurant, giving the space a modern, lively energy and making it distinctly different from the usual Mayfair dining experience.
If you're visiting for the first time, a counter seat is easily the best place to sit.
